2 Minute Devotional,  9/11 – September 11th

Isaiah 41:10-13,

So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

 “All who rage against you
    will surely be ashamed and disgraced;
those who oppose you
    will be as nothing and perish.

Though you search for your enemies,

    you will not find them.
Those who wage war against you
    will be as nothing at all.
 For I am the Lord your God
    who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;

          I will help you.

It’s been awhile since it happened, but I think we still need these words. It’s been awhile since those planes hit the World Trade Center towers, seemingly forever altering the destiny of our country. But we need God now. In our hearts, in our country.

Most of you probably watch the news. We hear the latest terror attacks. Paris, Lebanon, Orlando. The world is afraid. But, friends, do not be afraid. Our God is a mighty God. Exodus 15:3,

The LORD is a warrior; Yahweh is his name!

We can’t control what is going on in this world. But there is a war raging all around us. A spiritual war, more bloody and violent then we can imagine. It spills over into our world and we have incredible chaos and pain. But God fights too. And when God, fights his enemies are completely destoryed. Isaiah 34:5,

My sword has drunk its fill in the heavens

If you are a child of God, you are a citizen of the Kingdom of God. And the Kingdom of God has the most feared angel army, led by the King of Kings, Jesus Christ himself. You are the object of adoration that God fights for. You. That is the magnitude of power and strength coming to your rescue, from your fears, from your pain and terror. Listen to this description of Jesus as he returns to bring his Kingdom to Earth, Revelation 19:11-16,

 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rideris called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen,white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:

king of kings and lord of lords.

This is the Warrior who fights for you. So do not be afraid of Satan raging through your enemies. You have the omnipotence of Jesus, the Son of God fighting for you. Do not be afraid when you watch the news. Instead, love. Love as Jesus loved. Love without regard and spill yourself for others in your life today. You are the apple of God’s eye. He will fight for you.

Today we mourn, we love, we worship and celebrate God’s love and his name. He is good to us. I pray everyone in the world turns to him for their strength.

God bless you my friends. Love to you and do not fear or fret, you are protected, adored and fought for by the Prince of heaven himself, Jesus the Son of God.
